Bible In A Year

Will you join me in reading through the Bible in a Year? By reading only 3 chapters a day the whole Bible can be read in 12 months. Here is a reading schedule that you can return to at any time, put this page in your favorites, email it to a friend. Jesus said; “Man cannot life on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

The following five columns are divided by the five sections of scripture but should be read down in order

8 Responses to Bible In A Year

  1. I had never understood Numbers 13:33 in this light before…”We seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.” So we first had a distorted and low view of ourselves, and because of this our enemies regarded us in the same way. What a principle to understand (and avoid) in our lives today!

    • As you say, it is important to see ourselves the way our heavenly Father does. This becomes even clearer in the New Covenant and our identity being found in Christ through the gospel of grace. Keep reading!

  2. I appreciate that Moses, being told that he would depart this life, didn’t fight or struggle, but immediately prayed for a strong leader to take Israel forward. He found his answer in Joshua, and anointed him at once.

  3. Glad you are still reading with us. It is best to read in a community right? We get it all again when we get to Deuteronomy next week. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. I had never seen this verse in this light before…a wonderful generational promise of God’s faithfulness to us and our children: Deut. 30:6 – “And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.”

  5. I can’t remember a supervisor ever greeting me with “The Lord be with you” (Ruth 2:4). I guess it’s up to me to start the tradition.

  6. I don’t understand in 2 Samuel 24 when God asked David to count the people and then judged David and 70,000 people because David did just that.

    • This is complex on several levels, first, the comparative text of 1 Chron 21 says “The Devil incited David …” like the story of Job. Reading the other account it would seem the Lord even controls the activity of the Devil. Then, by numbering the people it would seem David was trusting in his military power, not in the power of the Lord. Finally, from Exodus 30, there should have been an offering or ransom after the counting of the men, as if to remind the people any deliverance comes from the Lord.

Hope that helps, glad you are still reading.
